Occasionally nature and unusual weather conditions momentarily create remarkable phenomena. These "cold bones" are such an example. Each of these scenes is the result of snow that had become gel-like due to a somewhat unique set of atmospheric conditions. The snow slumped down an inclined surface creating the remarkable forms you see here. Within 48 hours of capturing these images all of these scenes were gone.
I highly recommend viewing these images using the full-screen "Slideshow" facility you'll find on the upper right. The original images for these are each quite large, and would each print approximately 4 feet wide. The slideshow will help recreate the original experience of these scenes.
